Such a necessary article
for the breeder to read - PRACTICAL GENETICS FOR DOG BREEDERS.
For most dog breeders, as well as dog buyers, genetics is both a confusing and intimidating topic. This short article is intended to clarify some commonly held misconceptions about genetics and to offer some simplified explanations which (hopefully) will help the average guy (or gal) understand a few basic concepts of genetics that are important in breeding and owning purebred dogs.

If you are anything like
me, you will loathe cutting your dogs nails! Many, many
years ago I cut through the quick on a Greyhound's nail and
it bled for two days. Since then, I have dreaded "that
time" each week. I finally took to learning all about using a
Dremel to file down the nails. What a delightful decision it
was for me and my dogs. I have included an article with many
links on How to Use a Dremel to Trim a Dog's
Nails, for your perusal and consideration.

We've all heard of breast cancer in women. With approximately one woman in eight or nine falling victim to this form of cancer, there are awareness campaigns from numerous health care agencies. and research continues. What many pet owners do not know is that the incidence of mammary tumor development in dogs is higher yet with one in four unspayed female dogs affected. This is a huge incidence, yet awareness among owners of female dogs is lacking.

TUMOURS IN DOGS.
